TRIER-PUDDY POST 75 

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING 11/13/2025

The meeting was called to order by Commander Darryl Driscoll at 18:30 PM.  The colors were advanced, the opening prayer said, the POW Flag placed on the empty chair. The Pledge of Allegiance and the preamble read.

 

Roll Call: Present were Darryl Driscoll, Bill Tollefson, Tim Holt, Gail Johnson-Daveau, Rob Sharp, Mark Nesbitt, Jeff Winter, Wendy Johnson, Gail Sehloff, James Cofta, and Jeff Puddy. Quorum was established.

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were presented, and reviewed. Accepted by general consensus with corrections.

 

Guests

 

New member John Reiss was present and hat was presented.

 

Finance report

 

Total $12,216.99. General $7,202.16. Building $1,517.44. Rehab $3,497.39. EJ Investment was at $$28,356.76. Motion also made by Jeff W. to approve the finance report as read. Motion was seconded and discussed, and approved unanimously.  

 

Adjutant report:  

 

Buddy Checks for the AL family, looking for volunteers and setting up a date for monthly call maintenance, including 2930 calls. Midwinter coming up Jan 15-18th, registration open, we cover a room and your registration fees, that you pay in advance and we reimburse. Mentioned National Basic Training online course and registration. Operation X-mas Angel deadline Dec 14th for submissions for needy Veterans. Mentioned marching in Appleton Christmas Parade. Lastly nominations for Jodi for FDL Person of the Year. 

 

Vice Reports:

 

1st Vice Bill T. – Project Tile fundraiser for Veteran’s Park. CVSO has posted links to get a tile in the park. $100 ea., and coasters for $25.

 

2nd Vice Rob S. –Rienzi flags were recovered by the Scouts.

 

Chaplain Report:

Honor Guard Report:

2 funerals for November.  Total hours for Nov are 40 hours. Year to date 740 volunteer hours by the Honor Guard. 37 funerals for the year. 

 

 

 

Blood Drive:

 

September 30th was last drive, 133 units collected. 618 units so far. Next one is Nov 25th, last one for the year. You can sign-up online or just show up that day still.

 

SAL Report:

 

Commander Shawn M. mentioned the Early bird dinner coming up, and the opportunity to renew or bring in new members. 90 days out from Freezin for a Reason (FFAR) Seeking Corporate sponsorships, advertising on radio and social media starting, National SAL Commander will be attending. Donations for bucket raffles, pancake breakfast and spaghetti dinner sought. Cardboard shanties to be donated also. Goal of $20k in fundraising is the target. Breakfasts on the last Sunday of each month still a go. Donation of $1k in gift cards made to the CVSO. Mentioned donation of $1k to the T&F Fund for the Legion. Noted trip to King again this year for veteran’s support and donation of goods.

Unfinished Business:

Poles still pending for parking lot lights.

 

New Business

Jeff P. discussed matching the $1k the SAL was doing for the King veteran’s support, and he made a motion to donate $1k to the cause also. Motion was seconded and discussed, and approved unanimously.

 

Adjutant Tim H. discussed his visit to the Navy Club and mentioned they were donating $2k to the Fond du Lac food pantry after I had mentioned the Legion looking to do so. Motion was made by Tim H. to match the Navy Club donation of $2k. Motion was seconded and discussed, and approved unanimously. 

 

Also, Tim H. discussed a veteran in need as brought to our attention by the CVSO, who was in need of $1k due to unfortunate set of circumstances and medical issues. The SAL had already motioned to cover half of it, and Jeff P. made a motion to cover the other $500. Motion was seconded and discussed, and approved unanimously. Was noted this should come out of the Rehab fund.

 

Mark N. discussed sending care packages to some deployed individuals he knew. He noted the SAL had already approved $200 and was wondering if the Legion wanted to be involved also. Tim H. made a motion to spend $200 on this also. Motion was seconded and discussed, and passed unanimously. Member Leonard Ziegler also donated $100 dollars to this, which inspired new member Tom McDermott to donate $50 to the same.



 

Good of the Legion

Was mentioned the legion is looking for donations of 10-12 lb. turkeys for Thanksgiving. Dinner is from 2-5pm that day.

Comdr. Darryl D. also wanted to thank Cmdr. Shawn M. for repairing the heaters in the bathrooms.

Closing benediction and retiring of the colors completed. Meeting adjourned at 19:28.
